In a strong demonstration of innovation and partnership, Royal T Shipyards proudly announces the successful christening of the MV SUEVE, a 5,050 dwt vessel from the Salmo series. The ceremony, held in the Port of El Musel, Gijón, marks a new milestone in the collaboration with shipowner Navinorte/G. Junquera Marítima and highlights their joint commitment to efficient and sustainable shipping
From Delivery to Christening
The MV SUEVE was officially delivered to Navinorte/G. Junquera Marítima on 4 September 2025
in the Netherlands, before sailing to Gijón for her christening. This sequence of events reflects the
close collaboration between builder and owner in bringing the vessel from completion to
ceremonial entry into service.
Pioneering Efficiency and Performance
The MV SUEVE reflects advanced shipbuilding and modern propulsion technology. Equipped with
a diesel-electric propulsion system and a smart automation system for readout and voyage
analysis, the vessel is designed for excellent maneuverability and significantly reduced fuel consumption, directly contributing to lower emissions and more efficient operations.
“The christening of MV SUEVE is a proud moment for our team and for our partnership with
Navinorte,” said Thecla Bodewes, CEO of Royal T Shipyards. “With the Salmo series, we aim to
combine proven performance with forward-looking technology, ensuring real value for both
shipowners and the environment.”
A Ceremony Rooted in Tradition
The christening of MV SUEVE took place in the Port of El Musel, Gijón-Spain, with the vessel’s
godmother carrying out the naming tradition. The event was attended by representatives of
Navinorte/G. Junquera Marítima, Royal T Shipyards, Alta Shipbokers, Friday&Co Shipbrokers,
family, and partners from across the maritime industry, underscoring both the professional and
personal bonds that make this collaboration unique.
