Damen Group’s innovative all-electric tug Sparky nominated for the Ship of the Year Award

The first of Damen’s innovative new, all-electric RSD-E Tug 2513 class has been nominated for the 2023 Ship of the Year Award (formerly known as the KNVTS Ship of the Year Award). Damen Shipyards has received new orders from Feyz Group in Turkey, a Combi Freighter (CF) 5000 and a CF 3850

On behalf of SLPLUS Holding and based on their trust in Feyz Group’s operational capabilities, Damen Shipyards has received a new order for a Combi Freighter (CF) 5000 and an additional CF 3850, just four weeks after a contract was signed for three CF 3850s. The Feyz Group is currently renewing its fleet and the fast delivery times that Damen achieves through its policy of building in series enables them to respond quickly. The standardization and modular design approach by Damen Shipyards also delivers proven efficiency and endurance.

Econowind scales up with support from NOM and Horizon Flevoland

Concordia Damen contracted to deliver a 5,400 HP River Pusher to Girona S.A., Paraguay

Paraguayan shipowner and operator ‘Girona S.A. – Rio Sur Transporte y Logistica’ has contracted Dutch inland shipping construction yard Concordia Damen to build a ‘CDS4115’ Shallow Draft 5.400 HP River Pusher to expand its fleet. The family-owned company is one of the most traditional waterway transport companies in Paraguay, serving many customers along the 2695 km Paraguay River.

DP World’s groundbreaking hydrogen fuel cell-powered rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) crane will use a Corvus ESS

The DP World RTG is part of a Vancouver Port investment to test an array of low– and zero-emission technologies to achieve zero emissions by 2050. Corvus Energy is pleased to announce that it has been selected by TYCROP and their hydrogen technologies partner H2 Portable to supply the battery energy storage system component of a hydrogen fuel cell RTG crane scheduled for retrofit in 2024. A groundbreaking project, this will be the first RTG crane powered by both a fuel cell and a battery energy storage system in the Americas.

AEGIR-Marine and UPE demonstrate stern tube seals and propeller expertise

When on route to GOM-area, a fully laden bulker hit a buoy off coast Colombia damaging the propeller blades and aft seal assembly. A close detailed inspection revealed a missing rope guard, the entire seal box being distorted and dislocated from the stern tube and all 5 propelled blades damaged.

Pakistan Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel launched at Damen Shipyards Galati

On 12 September 2023, Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania held a launching ceremony for the PNS Hunain, one of a series of Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) 2600 that Damen is constructing for the Pakistan Navy. Damen was awarded the contract to build the vessel, following its successful delivery of the first two vessels, PNS Yarmook and PNS Tabuk in 2020.
