Damen-built vessel scores Most Powerful Electric Tugboat accolade Damen Shipyards Group and its client safeen Group, part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, have announced a Guinness World Records™️ title for the Most Powerful Electric Tugboat. The record was set by measuring the bollard pull of Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 Bu Tinah. With an average high peak pull of 78.2 tonnes, the vessel demonstrated performance unprecedented for a fully electric tug.

First Damen Shrimp Trawler 2607 completes sea trials

Recently, the first in series Damen Shrimp Trawler 2607 successfully completed its sea trials in the Port of Hamriya, UAE. Damen has designed the new vessel for the next generation of (sub) tropical shrimp fishing. The design aims at the provision of a straightforward, no-nonsense platform, easy to operate and with minimal maintenance requirements. The Shrimp Trawler 2607 has an extremely low fuel consumption resulting in lower fuel costs and reduced emissions.

Underwater stern tube seal repairs in Australia and Colombia

Recently Hydrex mobilized diver/technician teams to vessels in Colombia and Australia to carry out stern tube seal replacements. In Cartagena the repair was carried out on a 294-meter tanker, and in Burnie, Tasmania, on a 195-meter roro vessel.

Damen lays keel for first two of four fully electric ferries for BC Ferries

On November 1st, Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania laid the keel for the first two of four fully electric ferries for BC Ferries. The keel laying ceremony marked an important milestone in the third phase of construction of the Island Class Ferries, which will bring the total number of Damen vessels in the BC Ferries fleet to ten.
