Thecla Bodewes Shipyards is proud to announce the successful delivery of MV Vertom Anette to the Vertom Group. This 7,280 dwt LABRAX vessel is the fifth in a series of 12 vessels for the Vertom Group to be completed by Thecla Bodewes Shipyards.

Damen and Atal Solutions announce partnership to slash shipping emissions

Damen Shipyards Group is proud to announce its role in a partnership with Atal Solutions and other parties that will deliver a significant boost for the maritime green transition. For BAM Shipping, the project partners will undertake the retrofit of four bulk carriers by integrating 8 different proven technologies. Damen’s role is to provide the vessels with fuel-saving and emission reduction technologies. Following this, the bulk carriers are anticipated to consume at least 20% less fuel and reduce up to 99% greenhouse gases (GHG).

Underwater bow thruster removal and reinstallation in Naples

To save time and money for the owner of a 200-meter roro ship, Hydrex divers removed the bow thruster of the ship and reinstalled the unit after it was overhauled while the vessel was at anchorage in Naples, Italy. By carrying out both parts of the operation underwater the ship could stay operational and did not have to go to drydock.

A new addition to the Multraship fleet with the naming of the Damen ASD Tug 3212 Multratug 35

Multraship Towage & Salvage held a Christening ceremony on 30 May to name their newest tug Multratug 35 at their home port of Terneuzen, the Netherlands. The vessel is a Damen ASD Tug 3212. Multraship’s HR Manager, Mrs Chrétienne Huisman did the honours and wished the tug and her crews fair winds and following seas.

Damen delivers third FCS 2710 Hybrid vessel to Purus

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered the third in an order of three Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2710 Hybrids to Purus. The vessels, the first of their kind, have been designed to provide low emission crew transfer services to the offshore wind sector.

IHC Defence signs contract with Command Materiel & IT for Winch and Handling Systems

Recently, IHC Defence signed the contract with the Ministry of Defence's Materiel & IT Command (COMMIT) for the supply of six Winch and Handling Systems (WHS). The signing was done by Eric Gret, General Manager IHC Defence in the presence of COMMIT's contract manager Simone van de Akker and Project Manager Rob Klijn, and Royal IHC CEO, Derk te Bokkel.

Fits Right In: ZF Marine Expands Thruster Portfolio with new ZF AT 50 Series

Krimpen (The Netherlands) / Friedrichshafen (Germany). With the new azimuth thruster ZF AT 50, ZF is making optimized propulsion available to a wider range of maritime vessels with outputs of up to 815 kW. Sporting a new gear design and casing, the ZF AT 50 is up to 17 percent more efficient than its predecessor and comparable market solutions. The ZF AT 50 is available as an L- or Z-drive and can be installed as a well-mounted, deck-mounted, stern-mounted as well as a tunnel or retractable thruster. This, combined with a variety of possible add-ons, makes the new model the perfect fit for many different vessel types and applications – from tugboats to superyachts.

Wärtsilä to convert two Scandlines ferries to plug-in hybrid operation

Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the electrical systems needed to convert two Scandlines ferries to a plug-in hybrid solution. The ferries operate on the Puttgarden, Germany – Rödby, Denmark route, and the conversion represents a key element in Scandlines’ target to achieve emission-free operations on the route by 2030. The company’s overall vision is to realise zero emissions on all operations by 2040. The order with Wärtsilä will be booked in Q2 2024.
