Damen Marine Components to supply rudder systems for the world’s largest Pure Car and Truck Carriers
Damen Marine Components (DMC) has been contracted to supply rudder systems for four Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC), each capable of carrying up to 9,200 CEU (car equivalent units). The vessels are being built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd and China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd for their client BYD Auto, China’s largest manufacturer of electric and hybrid vehicles. When launched, the PCTCs will be the largest of their class in the world.

These regulations, known as E26 & E27, are set to propel new build vessels from zero to hero in terms of cyber and IT management. One crucial aspect not to be underestimated is the potential cost involved for shipowners to achieve and maintain compliance with these regulations. The costs for compliance will be recurring rather than one-time expenses.
Damen to deliver two ASD Tugs 3010 ICE to Norway’s BOA Group
On February 20th Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with BOA Group for two ASD Tugs 3010 ICE. Due to Damen’s practice of constructing vessels in series for stock, the tugs were already under construction at the time of order and will be delivered later this year.
Concordia Damen contracted to deliver a CDS2410 River Pusher to Transporte Fluviales Frey Bentos (TFF), Uruguay
Uruguayan shipowner and operator TFF has contracted Dutch inland shipping construction yard Concordia Damen to build a CDS2410 Shallow Draft River Pusher (2.500 HP) to expand its fleet of pushboats. TFF will use the pusher for transporting cellulose pulp from Fray Bentos to the port of Nueva Palmira.
Royal Van der Leun signs contract with Damen for four fully electric BC Ferries
Royal Van der Leun proudly announces the order for four fully electric passenger car ferries to BC Ferries in collaboration with Damen! This order comprises ferries seven through ten in our ongoing partnership. Having already completed the construction of the initial six vessels, Royal Van der Leun will deliver and install the complete electrical package, including installation and automation, for the newly ordered ferries.

Wärtsilä relaunches STC0-23 sewage treatment plant, the smallest Super Trident series design to-date
The relaunch sees several improvements to STC0-23, including the smallest and most compact design of any Wärtsilä Water & Waste sewage treatment plant. The technology works seamlessly with both gravity and vacuum waste collection systems and utilises an activated sludge system to speed up natural biological processes.
Damen unveils new Multi-Purpose Support Ship (MPSS)
Damen Shipyards Group has unveiled a new ship design based on modern defence and security requirements. The Multi-Purpose Support Ship (MPSS) has been co-developed with the Portuguese Navy, the vessel’s launching customer. It is a solution for the increasing use of drone technology in combat and surveillance. In addition to its primary function, the MPSS is designed to fulfil a wide range of additional tasks, including auxiliary roles.
