Acta Marine’s Newest SOV Acta Gemini Commences Long-Term Charter for RWE at Sofia Offshore Wind Farm

28 augustus 2026

Acta Marine is proud to announce that its newest Service Operation Vessel (SOV), Acta Gemini, has successfully completed its shakedown and mobilisation period and is now beginning a long-term charter agreement in support of RWE’s Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the United Kingdom.

Operating from Grimsby, Acta Gemini will provide offshore accommodation and Walk-to-Work services for technicians and specialists involved in the commissioning and future operation and maintenance of the 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, one of Europe’s largest offshore wind projects. Located on Dogger Bank in the North Sea, approximately 195 kilometres off the UK’s north-east coast, Sofia, once fully operational, is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 1.2 million UK homes.

The start of this long-term charter marks an important milestone for both Acta Marine and Acta Gemini in supporting RWE’s offshore projects. Acta Gemini is the third vessel in Acta Marine’s series of four next-generation (C)SOV newbuilds. Delivered in June 2026 by Tersan Shipyard, the vessel has been purpose-built to support offshore wind maintenance activities, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, sustainability, and crew comfort.

Acta Gemini accommodates up to 88 personnel and is equipped with an advanced offshore access system, a helideck, and two daughter crafts, enabling safe and efficient transfer of personnel to offshore installations.

With Acta Gemini now beginning her operational journey at Sofia, Acta Marine further strengthens its position as a trusted partner in the offshore wind sector, supporting the reliable generation of renewable energy across Europe.
