On 14 December, the commissioning ceremony took place of two, next-generation, Damen ASD Tugs 2813 delivered by Damen Shipyards to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA). Named the Capt. Edward A. A. Awuviri and Nestor Percy Galley after two former Director Generals, these additions to the GPHA fleet deliver 83 tonnes bollard pull ahead and up to 77 tonnes astern. This makes them ideal for manoeuvring the range of large vessels that use the Ghanaian ports of Takoradi and Tema, two of the largest in West Africa, as well as other supporting activities.

Martin Bloem will start as Group Director Corporate Affairs at Damen Shipyards Group effective 1 January 2024. This is a new position at the largest shipbuilding concern in the Netherlands.

Alewijnse opens new warehouse at Damen Yachting Vlissingen
In response to the growing needs of the yacht sector Alewijnse, has in cooperation with Damen Yachting, opened a new warehouse at their Vlissingen yard. The upgraded facility is twice as large as its predecessor and will enable Alewijnse to increase its efficiency in providing the electrical integration services that it delivers to Damen Yachting.

MAN Energy Solutions to supply propulsion diesel engines and diesel generator sets for Damen Naval’s ASW-frigates
Damen Naval has contracted MAN Energy Solutions to supply the propulsion diesel engines and the diesel generator sets for the new Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) frigates. The order consists of eight MAN 20V28/33D STC Marine Engines and sixteen variable speed 16V175D-MEV Naval generator sets with sound enclosure and plant auxiliaries. The agreement also includes Integrated Logistic Support for the four new frigates being designed and built for the Netherlands and Belgium.
Damen Naval marks official start of construction phase F126 frigates
The prestigious F126 project reached a major milestone today: the cutting of the first steel for the new multi-purpose frigates for the German Navy. Main contractor Damen Naval and project partner NVL Group invited more than 200 guests to attend the official and festive ceremony at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast, Germany. The cutting of the first steel marks the official start of the project's construction phase.
