Gerdes Green receives government subsidy for Damen Combi Freighter 3850 green innovations
On 4th October, Damen’s client Gerdes Green received a subsidy from the German Government for the investment in sustainable innovations for a Damen Combi Freighter (CF) 3850 currently under construction, as well as for a second vessel. Damen, together with Gerdes Green and vessel charterer Cargill, has developed a tailored vessel, the CF 3850 Hybrid, with the aim of substantially reducing the environmental footprint of coaster vessel operations.
Iv-Consult and Nevesbu help SolarDuck realise the world's largest floating solar platform
The world's largest floating solar platform is to be constructed in the Dutch offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust West (HKW) VII, approximately 53 kilometres off the coast of IJmuiden. The floating solar platform will be located between the wind turbines and is an innovative solution developed by the Dutch-Norwegian company SolarDuck. The platform will consist of dozens of floating, interconnected triangular structures with solar panels and integrated storage solutions. RWE is investing in this floating innovation. SolarDuck selected engineering companies Iv-Consult and Nevesbu to technically develop and optimise the innovative concept to ensure its installation at sea complies with all requirements.

Lenten Scheepvaart (the Netherlands) will go down in history as the owner of the world's first-ever newbuild hydrogen-powered inland shipping barge. With this, the shipping company sets a new standard. An important step towards zero-emission transport on Dutch inland waterways. The Hydrogen Electric Cargo Ship ‘Antonie’ (WEVA) was realised by Concordia Damen. On 23 October the technical sea trials were held, during which the ship was inspected by Lloyd's Register and received a provisional certificate to be put into service.
Kenmare awards IHC Mining with contract for two customised mining dredgers
Kenmare Resources plc (“Kenmare”) and IHC Mining have signed the contract for the delivery of two large customised mining dredgers. The two dredgers will each have a total installed power of 6,800 kVA and a cutter power of 1,350 kW. As they are electrically powered by using renewable hydro-electric power, these dredgers will contribute to Kenmare’s goal of reducing the carbon footprint of their operations. The vessels will be built concurrently at Royal IHC’s yard in Kinderdijk (Netherlands).

Damen delivers another batch of cutter suction dredgers for Mexico
In the harbour of Veracruz, Mexico three Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSD) were commissioned along the quay. The dredgers, built in the Netherlands by Damen Dredging Equipment (DDE), have been added to the fleet of SEMAR. They have been acquired as part of a fleet expansion programme, and will be put to good use on various dredging projects in Mexico.
