During NEDS, the largest defence industry exhibition in the Netherlands, Nevesbu signed a contract with Naval Group to design complex subsystems for the new Orka-class submarines for the Royal Netherlands Navy. This assignment marks a significant contribution by Nevesbu to the Replacement Netherlands Submarine Capability (RNSC) programme.
Havenbedrijf Rotterdam ontwikkelt nieuwe terminal voor offshore wind activiteiten
Havenbedrijf Rotterdam gaat in de noordwesthoek van de Maasvlakte een terrein van 45-hectare ontwikkelen voor offshore wind activiteiten. De terminal biedt mogelijkheden voor opslag, overslag, installatie en (pre-)assemblage van windturbinecomponenten en fundaties. De terminal krijgt directe nautische toegang naar zee en wordt uitgerust met zware lading kades en hoogwaardige logistieke faciliteiten. Geïnteresseerde marktpartijen kunnen zich vanaf vandaag aanmelden voor de markconsultatie. De verwachte ingebruikname van de terminal staat gepland voor midden 2029.
Damen and Windcat introduce Innovation Series – a new class of offshore support vessels
At the Offshore Energy Conference in Amsterdam, Windcat signed a contract with Damen Shipyards Group for a new Multi-Purpose Accommodation Support Vessel (MP-ASV), with the option of five additional vessels of this type. To be known as the Innovation Series, the vessels will combine a large open deck with a subsea crane with fuel efficient operations and comfortable, high-quality accommodation for personnel working in the offshore energy sector for extended periods.

Havenbazen van Rotterdam en Duisburg winnen Brost-Ruhr Prijs 2025
Boudewijn Siemons en Markus Bangen, CEO’s van de havens van Rotterdam en Duisburg, zijn onderscheiden met de prestigieuze Brost-Ruhr-prijs 2025. De lofrede werd uitgesproken door Nathanael Liminski, minister van Federale en Europese Zaken, Internationale Zaken en Media, en hoofd van de Staatskanselarij van Noordrijn-Westfalen. De Duitse Brost-Stiftung reikt deze prijs jaarlijks uit aan personen en organisaties die zich op exceptionele wijze inzetten voor het Ruhrgebied. Siemons en Bangen ontvangen de prijs voor hun bijdrage aan het versterken van de economische banden tussen Nederland en het Ruhrgebied. Aan de prijs is een geldbedrag van €20.000 per persoon verbonden, dat besteed moet worden aan een goed doel in het Ruhrgebied. Beide havens hebben besloten het bedrag te doneren aan de Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG), een organisatie die zich inzet om verdrinkingsdoden op stranden, meren en rivieren te voorkomen. Markus Bangen is beschermheer van de DLRG in Duisburg.
Wattlab wins IBJ Environmental Protection Award for Solar Flatrack Technology
Last week, the IBJ Awards recognised Wattlab’s contribution to deliver verified fuel savings, CO₂ reduction, and a strong financial return to shipping companies. Wattlab was awarded the IBJ Environmental Protection Award for its innovative Solar Flatrack, the world’s first modular solar power solution engineered specifically for seagoing cargo vessels. Furthermore, the scale-up’s maritime solar energy system has now been independently validated by TNO.
