Damen to refit four Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessels

Damen Shipyards Group and the Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas have signed contracts for a comprehensive refit programme covering four Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) vessels, restoring and extending the operational readiness of the fleet so the RBDF can continue to protect Bahamian waters without interruption.

Eerste fase verbreding Yangtzekanaal afgerond, volgende fase gestart

De eerste fase van de verbreding van het Yangtzekanaal is afgerond. Aannemerscombinatie Hakkers, De Klerk en Van Oord heeft een nieuwe sleepbotenkade met twaalf ligplaatsen en walstroomvoorzieningen opgeleverd. Het Yangtzekanaal is hiervoor aan de zuidkant over een lengte van 500 meter verbreed. De aannemerscombinatie werkt inmiddels aan de tweede fase van het project: de aanleg van 1.450 meter kade met twintig nieuwe ligplaatsen voor de binnenvaart inclusief walstroomvoorzieningen.

DNV Type Approval Design Certificate accelerates deployment of Econowind VentoFoils

Econowind has received a Type Approval Design Certificate (TADC) from classification society DNV for its VentoFoil 3-Series boundary layer suction wing. The certification confirms compliance with DNV’s ST-0511 standard for Wind-Assisted Propulsion Systems and enables easier integration of VentoFoils on DNV-classed vessels worldwide. The approval accelerates the deployment of wind propulsion across the shipping industry.
